I am Barbara Jacobs-Smith. My husband, Alan, is the Squadron’s Personnel Officer. We have two children, Jake and Norah. We also have three dogs. My son was a member of the squadron for about 3 years, achieving the rank of Petty Officer 1st class.

I have a master's degree in reading and special education from Northern Arizona University. I am a third grade teacher at Breck School and I work part time at Chico’s Casual Clothing at the Galleria in Edina. My hobbies include reading, knitting, cooking, decorating, travel and shopping. I am a lifetime member of the Auxiliary and I am a member of the Navy League of the United States.

At the Navy League National Convention in Honolulu this summer, I was able to report the outstanding achievements of our Parents Auxiliary and describe our strong Squadron Leadership to the board of directors of US Naval Sea Cadet Corps and at the Youth Programs meeting.

I strongly believe in and support the mission of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. I feel it is my duty to give back to the quality programs in which my children participate. Sea Cadets is undoubtedly the finest program in which my son, Jake, has ever participated. That is why I am a founding member of the Parents Auxiliary.
