How to Join

- Thank you for your interest in the Twin Cities Squadron!

2007 was another fantastic year for the Twin Cities Squadron Sea Cadets, presently ranked the #1 NSCC Unit in the Nation!  Your "Adventure of a Lifetime" begins with a short, no-obligation visit to the Reserve Center where we drill.  As a prospective cadet you and a parent or legal guardian will attend a 45-minute program overview that includes a short movie and question-and-answer period.

Here are the times of the upcoming Twin Cities Squadron Prospective Cadet Briefings:

Following the briefing you will have the opportunity to spend the rest of the day with the Squadron where you can meet our Cadets and observe the type of activities that we participate in (bear in mind that every drill weekend is different). After this, if you'd like to join Twin Cities Squadron and you meet the eligibility requirements, we'll send you home with an application package that your parent or legal guardian will complete.  You will be able to join the following day if you desire, or you can come back later.  It's up to you.  Are you ready to Test Your Limits as a US Naval Sea Cadet?

It's quite easy to join the Sea Cadets. The cost is reasonable, and there is no military obligation involved.
Make sure that you explore our website and read the command policy statement to make sure that you understand our qualifications and expectations. Look at our calendar to get an understanding of the schedule of our events.
Please fill out this form to express your interest in Sea Cadets and to inquire about one of our informational meetings. You can also e-mail the squadron to express your interest in Sea Cadets.

 Here's the process:

  • 1.
Keep in mind that we cannot accept drop-ins and you must e-mail or call the Squadron to arrange a visit.
     2. The prospective cadet and a parent (or legal guardian) must both attend an introductory meeting that lasts 30-45 minutes. These meetings are held on the mornings of our drill weekends.
     3. The prospective cadet is welcome to spend the day with us (bring a bag lunch and wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing). This gives him/her an opportunity to observe what we do.
     4. If you come to the informational meeting on the first drill day, you may return the next day to spend another day with us.
     5. At the end of the day we will send an application package home with you. It must be carefully completed. It requires a doctor's physical evaluation (similar to a sports physical for high school), and you need to provide information that includes immunizations, health insurance, and social security number.
     6. Bring the completed package back on the next drill weekend, along with payment. The enrollment fee is $235, which primarily covers administrative processing and uniform rentals. We provide Navy uniforms for you to wear as a cadet, and we replace them as you continue to grow. They are rented however, and must be returned when you leave the program. We give the cadet a set of US Navy Sweats and a Squadron T-shirt (these are yours to keep after you leave the program).
     7. The renewal fee for each additional year is $100. Compared to most other youth organizations, we are very affordable and within the means of most interested and qualified applicants. This is because we rely heavily on adult volunteers and donations.

Thank you for your interest in the Twin Cities Squadron of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps!
